Okay so I’ve been doing this weight loss thing for about two weeks now and I promised updates along the way.
First lets start with my routine. Monday-Thursday I’ve been hitting the gym or my living room for 5am workouts. All workouts consist of weight training and cardio and I’ve been doing a lot of Jeanette Jenkins DVD’s. The first week was super hard on me and my body was crying out for me to stop. The second week was a bit better though I am exhausted and in the bed by 8:30-9pm almost every night.
I’ve been taking the supplements SST Performix which are thermogenics. Thermogenics increase your body core tempture which add in boosting metabolism. These thermogenics are a bit different in that they are time release capsules that aid my body in the burning of fat throughout the day. I started off Week 1 just taking 1 capsule a day because I wasn’t sure how my body would handle them. The first day was fine. I could definitely feel them working as I worked out in the gym. I had a huge increase in energy and surprisingly was able to power though my cardio workout without no problem. Though not specified I do believe these capsules contain some type of diuretic because I was running to the bathroom every 2 hours. On day two I had similar levels of energy but I did not experience the frequency to urinate and so I decided to continue taking them. This last week I increased my intake to two capsules a day. I didn’t notice a huge difference except that I was a bit more alert and a wake as compared to the previous week and that I was also never hungry. I was having to make myself eat because the pills were heavily suppressing my appetite. One last important thing to mention is that unlike other energy supplements I do not experience a crash at all!
Diet:
I tried not to go into this thinking I needed to be on a hardcore diet. I just knew that I needed to make healthier choices when it came to what I ate and also think about portion size. That’s where we can easily get in trouble, having too much of a healthy thing, like avocado for instance. I kept my lean shakes in constant rotation either having them at breakfast, lunch or dinner and I also made Hearty Veggie and Feta Frittata’s as a substitute for when I felt I needed a bit more to eat after my workouts. Did I have a cheat meal? Or course I did, I’ve had several. Again, I’m not going into this on some hardcore diet but on a eat healthier and be more active type of mentality. I’m not going to deprive my body of things that it’s craving, especially not in the beginning. That’s a a one way ticket to give up street. So I’ve made healthier choices and I’ve controlled my portions and to me that’s a great start.
Results
I started this journey weighing 183.3. After Week 1 I weighed in at 181.6 for a loss of 1.5lbs. After week 2 I weighed in at 181.4 for a loss of .2lbs. I’ll be honest I was super disappointed when I saw my weight for week 2 but, I have a scale that also measures total body fat, total body water, bone, and muscle. Though I’d only lost .2lbs I noticed that my total body fat dropped 1.4%, my total body water dropped .4% and my total body muscle went up 1.6 %!! This is huge because if you take a look at this picture below you’ll notice that fat takes up a lot more room in the body than muscle. One pound of muscle occupies less space (volume) than one pound of fat So while I may not have lost anything weight wise I lost a good bit mass wise!
Moving forward I plan to do better at controlling what I eat on the weekends because this is mostly where I go wrong. I’ve also purchased a few at home workout items from TJmaxx so I’m hoping to really rev up my at home workouts for days I don’t feel like going to the gym.
Congrats on your weight loss and body fat loss!!!! Get it!
Congratulations! 5am.. you’re a much more motivated person than I am!

Rock it, Doll!! Don’t you love feeling strong!!! That’s what makes me stick to it.
Congrats for sticking with it and getting up at 5AM to workout. I can’t workout that early or I get sick!
Congrats on the weight loss. Those early am workouts are no joke. I started meeting with my running group again three days a week and that means rolling out of bed at 415 to be there by 5am. I feel your pain but it’s so worth it.
Weight is just a number, but health is a lifestyle.
Congrats on continuing the journey! I’ve never heard of theromgenics. I’ll have to do more research!
Don’t give up, you’re doing great!
Just keep it going and don’t let numbers disappoint you. Kudos!
Good work and thank you for posting an update!
Awesome job girl… Get it !

I was loving this post until the image of the fat vs muscle. Now I feel a little nauseous. Fat is sooooo yellow!
