Rock Red Lipstick like Taylor Swift!

So I’m rocking out to Taylor Swifts newest album 1989 and I can’t help but be a bit jealous of her. No, it’s not for her amazing vocals or her “I could give a damn what you think about me” attitude that she not so discretely conveys throughout her songs. I’m jealous of Tay Tay because this girl knows how to rock red lipstick! When it comes to red, the shade doesn’t matter. Crimson, Blood Red, Brick Red, or Bordeaux Taylor’s never seen without the not so subtle hue on her lips. With three references to red lipstick in her 1989 album, and with a prior LP also titled Red, it’s pretty obvious to tell what her favorite color is.  I’ve always said that Red Lips are a sign of power. They can be sexy and seductive while still being perfectly business appropriate. Taylor recently admitted that her favorite red lipstick is created by the Velvet Lip Pencil called  Dragon Girl by Nars Cosmetics. 

Want to rock out with red lipstick like Taylor Swift? Here are four easy steps to help you re create the iconic Taylor Swift Red Lipstick look. 

1. Make sure your lips are exfoliated. Exfoliation of the lips gets rid of any dead peeling skin and leaves the lips soft and smooth. You can easily make your own by using sugar and olive oil or if your not into that Do it yourself type of thing grab some of the Sweet Lips Sugar Scrub from Lush.

2. Prep your lips. Prepping your lips after exfoliation simply involves making sure they are moisturized. Put on a lip balm that will not dry your lips out. My favorite is MAC’s Prep and Prime Lip. Please do not use carmax.

3. Prime your Lips with a lip pencil in a similar shade to the Lip color you’ll be applying.To do this I apply the lip color to my entire lip, as if you would if lining but this time filling in the inner area. 4. Finally,  fill in your lips with your lip color. Make sure you apply enough so that the color is evenly placed on your lips.
