Have you ever sat and wondered where the time went? It seems that the days are becoming shorter and the years and coming to an end so much faster than it would in my younger days. I often wonder if my new found notice of the abruptness of time is because I’m constantly glued to some electronic device. You know, taking a selfie, writing a blog post, posting to Instagram or keeping up with the latest gossip on Facebook. Over time, I’ve come to discover that I truly miss actual conversation and that I’d rather talk on the phone instead of responding to a text. One of my New Years Resolutions is to slow down and appreciate the beauty of life around me. I’ve also decided that I will make every effort to start sending out handwritten notes.
I think the last time I sent out a handwritten “Thank You” note was was when I was job hunting after college. You don’t need to send a Thank You note simply after a job interview. There are so many things to say thanks for and so many people that one could say thank you to! When I was in HomeGoods, I spotted the cutest Stationary set! It contained cards that read “Hello Gorgeous”, “Hello Beautiful” as well as cards that simply said “Thanks.” also purchased these cute notebooks from Bloomingdales to keep in my purse. These will help me to keep a record of whom I should give a Thank You or just a handwritten note to in general.
To make the cards more personal I also picked up a set of stamps from Hobby Lobby to add my personal style and signature to the cards. I’m sure a handwritten note will never take the place of sending an email. However, I do hope that the recipients of my Thank You notes or other simple cards to say hello can smile, knowing that there are people in the world willing to take the time to show their appreciation for the small things in life.
