Three Ways to Jump Start Your Morning Routine.

I am not a morning person at all. Sometimes I lay in bed and just contemplate life along with everything else that I need to do. Getting up and mustering some morning energy can be hard. It can be hard on those who aren’t passionate about their jobs, or those who feel they just never have enough energy to complete the day. As the New Year continues on (can you believe it’s almost February?) I’m working to incorporate some new things into my morning routine that will help me with reaching the goals I’ve set for the beginning of the year as well as help me create morning wins.

1. Wake up to a Motivational Song.

One of my favorite songs to listen to on the way to work is “The Blessing of Abraham”. I always listen to this song as I’m walking from the train station to my lab. It helps to pump me up and to remind me that there is something bigger and better out there for me if I just trust the process and trust God’s will. I use my phone to wake up instead of an alarm clock. So setting my phone to play a motivational song to wake me up instead of blaring an alarm will help me to get out of bed and not lay there and extra 30 minutes contemplating the meaning of life. 

2. Take out time for Myself in the Mornings.

In the mornings. we’re usually rushing to get dressed and out the door for work. The mornings are the most important time of the day. It’s when your most clairvoyant and when ideas come to you.One thing, I’d like to start doing in the mornings is to sit at kitchen table and write out a list of things I’d like to accomplish for the day along with a daily positive affirmation.  I also want to create time for a quick workout and a relaxing shower afterward.This may mean me having to get up an extra hour and a half earlier, but if it allows me to meet my personal goals, like getting beach ready for my trip to Aruba, then it’s worth it.

3. Eat a Healthy Breakfast

The muffin and donut have got to go!  Starting your day off with a healthy balanced breakfast will do more than stop your stomach from growling. It will fuel your mind and give you energy to complete the day’s task. One of my goals it to find more options for breakfast than my usual piece of fruit or hardboiled egg.     I’m always running out the door in the morning. If I’m lucky, I have tea. Unless I prepare my food at night, I don’t eat breakfast. Bad, I know. These Belvita bites look like a good option to keep in my purse.

    It’s crazy how for so many years I skipped breakfast. Now I can’t start my day without it– SO important. Ps. I LOVE belvita. I make my boss buy them for when I’m running late and have to munch in the office.

    I’m a morning person, but I still go through that process of just lying in bed for a few minutes before actually getting up, lol! I totally agree that you need to start off your day right with a healthy breakfast. My go to is oatmeal, but I would like to try the V8 and the Belvita!
