How to Finger Coil and Rock a Coil Out with a Tapered Cut

How to Rock a Tapered Cut and Style it into a Fierce Coil Out on Natural Hair! |www.BeingMelody.com| @beingmelody

Last week I had my hair cut back into a tapered style. I know I know, I was growing it out, but I decided that I just look better with a shorter cut. I attempted a wash and go on this tapered style and I felt it really didn’t bring through the actual shape of the style so I decided since I was due to update my “Finger Coils On Natural Hair” video from three years ago this would be the perfect time to do that and try the style out at the same time.

The products I used in this video came from the Dark and Lovely Moisture LOC line as well as their Au Natural Anti Shrinkage 10-n-1 Gelee which have definitely become staples in my hair regimen. The great thing about finger coils is that ou can wear them twisted for a couple of days before picking them out. That means this style can last for almost a week and a half depending on your lifestyle. Mine will probably go about 3-4 days after I take them lose due to my workout regimen and constantly sweating.  Check out the video below to get a quick tutorial in how to do finger coils and how to rock this style coil out style!

I love you hair. I have been looking for someone to taper cut my natural hair but I don’t know whether to go to a barber or a natural hair salon. As soon as I saw your were from the Philadelphia area, I got so excited because I am from Philly. Could you tell me who did your tapered cut? I love the style you have and I would love to find someone to cut my hair.

Hey Wendy! Thanks so much. I had my hair cut at Duafe. If you just want a cut without the wash and everything it’s only $25!

I am very familiar with Duafe. I went there years ago when I first went natural. I didn’t know whether to use a barber or go to a natural salon, so I appreciate your answer. That makes my decision for me.One more question please. Did you see someone specific? Plus, I meant I love your hair, not you 🙂

My usual stylist is Kat, but she wasn’t there that day I went in and I can’t remember the name of the girls hair who cut mine. I can describe her for you. She’s short, has natural hair and sort of bigger. Kat does a good job cutting also though.

Love you hair but I have a question. I always that in most natural hair videos women have very curly hair. I do not have that hair type. My hair is strait and course. Is this your natural hair or did you achieve that texture threw a texturizer?

      Hi April,

This is my natural hair texture. You should still be able to do this style with manipulation using curling products and by doing two strand twist or finger coils.
