In the past family and friends would always ask my Husband and I when we planned on having a baby. With me being in Graduate school the idea of bringing a child into the world with my limited contribution to our income coupled with the fact that I didn’t have a normal work schedule never seemed liked a great idea. My Husband and I would talk about having kids, but we always said we would wait until I graduated. Now, with only 6-10 months left of graduate school the thought of having kids has crossed my mind and we are now preparing ourselves mentally and financially for that prospect.
I’ve heard conflicting stories on the long-term effects of birth control on your ability to conceive. Some women are able to conceive without a problem while other women find that their ability to conceive has been somewhat impaired. However, to say for sure that the inability to conceive is due to being on birth control for a long period of time would be in error as thousands of women deal with fertility issues whether they’ve been on or never been on the pill.
My husband and I have not explored what we would do if we ended up dealing with issues related to fertility. As a scientist, I do know that in order for things to work conditions don’t have to be perfect, but they must be optimal enough to breed success, or, in this case, make a baby. Astroglide TTC Trying to Conceive™ is water based lubricant specially formulated for couples who are trying to conceive. It helps to support fertility by creating an optimal sperm friendly environment.
Astroglide TTC allows you to forget about everything else and focus on what really matters when family planning. Each other. Traditional lubricants may affect conditions, such as pH levels, osmolality, the consistency of egg white cervical mucus, as well as inhibit sperm motility. Astroglide TTC is compatible with sperm, oocytes and embryos and allows the sperm to move freely. It is specially formulated with adjusted pH levels, compatible osmolality and a consistency similar to that of your own cervical mucus, making it less likely to hinder sperm motility than traditional lubricants. TTC also contains galactose, which is found naturally in semen, as well as fructose, the main source of energy for sperm. Though this is a pretty specific brand of Astroglide, like it’s other products Astroglide TTC temporarily relieves vaginal dryness during sexual activity.
The Astroglide TTC comes packaged in 8 pre-filled single use applicators and only retails for $12.99 making it an affordable part of your family planning. You can find it at your local drugstores and big box retailers. If you have friends who are planning to start their family soon be sure to let them know about Astroglide TTC. I can say that I definitely plan to try it out when the time is right, because when your wanting to start a family it’s important to cut out the noise and focus on what matters.

Oh gosh, I am so disappointed that we are trying for so long without success. Reading even blogs with these types of products to even help out even give me a bit of heart ache.
This is the first time I heard about this product, but this really is interesting. My cousin is struggling to conceive and I this will help. I will share this to her as she is already panicking; she is already in her mid thirties.
Interesting product not familiar with it until now. I know a lot of people have misconceptions about being on the birth control and how that could some how lead to infertility but like you said whether a couple have been on the pill or not some find it difficulty to conceive.
You’re right, there is a lot to consider when planning a family, moreso than just a desire to have children. Of course there’s timing, but a baby requires a lot of time, money and care. I have friends that were able to conceive immediately, and others that are still unsuccessful, even after a few attempts through IVF. I can only imagine how disappointing and stressful it must be. Congratulations on completing grad school and best of luck with family planning!
This is a very intimate and informative post. Thank you for sharing some real obscticles that women face. All this is to say thank you for sharing about this lub product.
