Everything about my body changed when I turned 30. The fat cells became more resistant, I had a lot more aches and pains, and I realized that my hair was beginning to turn gray in other areas than just my head. One thing that also changed was my skin. As I got older I realized that I really needed to take better care of my skin if I wanted to fit into that stereotype that “Black Don’t Crack” and of course, be able to achieve a good selfie without using the blurring tool. I’ve noticed as of late when I post pictures that I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on my skin. These compliments actually surprised me because while I knew I didn’t have bad skin I never really thought of myself as having nice skin. That way of thinking may be due to the fact that I have a skin disorder on my right eyelid (which you can see how I correct and conceal here), but I mean when you’ve been dodging those invasive “what happened to your eye” questions you just don’t think about skin the same way anymore.
Since I do get questions about my skin care routine I thought I’d share with you some of my most coveted products. Like my makeup, I don’t use any one skin care line exclusively and when it comes to skin care I don’t mind splurging a bit. We all know skin care can be a bit expensive, but this is why it’s important to choose items that are going to address all your concerns. Some skin care products are dual purpose. For instance, if you’re dealing with acne choose a moisturizer that also combats acne. There’s no need to purchase individual products to address each concern. No one has that kind of money or shelf space. Below I’ve included some of favorite selfie approved skin care items. You can shop for the items directly by clicking on the photos in the boutique. If the boutique doesn’t show (if you’re on mobile) you should still be able to shop the widget below.
