It’s funny how life has a way of knowing exactly what you need and then just giving it to you. No, I’m not talking about karma giving back to you what you dished out before, but actually the world responding to the energy you put out. August was one of the busiest months I’ve had in a while, also one of the most stressful leaving with me little no time to really relax and pamper myself so I’m pretty sure the energy I was putting out was burnt out, tired, and over it. So, when I received an invite from The Rittenhouse Spa & Club — Hair by Paul Labrecque, I knew that it was life’s way of saying “Girl, you need a break”.
The Rittenhouse Spa & Club — Hair by Paul Labrecque, is located in the Rittenhouse Square area of Philadelphia inside The Rittenhouse Hotel. Now, I’ll be honest here. I’ve never had a Spa Day unless you count Mani/Pedi’s and Mimosa’s with the girls, so I was a little intimidated about what to expect, the do’s and don’t, and the am I fancy enough’s at this particular Spa & Club, but once I was greeted at the front desk all those apprehensions melted away.
Upon entering The Rittenhouse Spa & Club, you’re greeted with soft glowing lights and crisp white walls that just invite you in. While you’re waiting to be checked in you can browse through all the products they use within the Salon and Spa which are neatly displayed along the rear wall. Since it was my first time visiting I was taken on a brief tour. I was quite taken aback with all the amenities they had to offer. Between the expansive indoor pool, makeup stations, nail bar, and the gentleman’s barbershop the Rittenhouse Spa & Club has services that cater to both men and women making it the perfect day get away.
As I mentioned earlier I’d had a stressful month and so I figured a hot stone massage would be the perfect thing to help me relax. The Women’s locker rooms were nice and clean and each locker came with a super soft Terry Cloth robe for you to wrap up in before venturing to the Relaxation Lounge to wait on your spa services. I was also given slippers to wear around the club as well.
The Relaxation Lounge creates an ambiance that automatically relaxes you. The soothing colors and mixture of materials rejuvenate your spirit before you even have your spa treatment. There is also tea and light snacks for you to enjoy while your waiting to be called to the back. The Hot Stone Massage was absolutely everything I imagined it would be. I do believe I may have even fell asleep on the table a couple of times. My masseuse Maria made sure that I was comfortable with the pressure and heat of the stones the entire time. Afterwards, she informed me that I had a lot of tension in my back, which I figured, and that I should come back at least once a month which is something I made sure to relay to my husband.
After my massage, I headed over to the Salon. I had my hair colored and styled by Roxie and Victoria. During my consultation, I told Roxie that I wanted a color that would take me into fall, and so we chose a gloss with violet highlights. Since I had a lot of split ends do to my DIY hair trials at home Victoria and I decided that a blowout and flat iron would be best. This way my ends could get a really good trim. Since I had my hair colored Victoria also gave me a Lemongrass Deep Conditioning Treatment. It smelled amazing and my curls melted with gratitude.
I prepared myself for some major end trimming, but it actually wasn’t that bad. Even with my hair curly I can definitely tell the difference in the way my ends looked. I wanted to wear my hair straight for the remainder of the weekend, but the humidity got the best of me. Actually, my hair started to revert as soon as I went outside and so I was only able to snap a few selfie style pictures of my new sleek hair. The following morning I co-washed it with the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie Cowash and just wore a wash and go. Notice how defined my curls are in the picture above.
I absolutely enjoyed my experience at The Rittenhouse Spa & Club — Hair by Paul Labrecque and already making plans to return for the couple’s Spa Session with my husband. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or maybe some mid-afternoon pampering I recommend you head over to The Rittenhouse Spa & Club.
