I participated in this campaign as a part of a sponsored post for Socialstars and Tide. All opinions are my own. #TideThat
Fall has to be my absolute favorite season. Yea it’s pretty and all with the leaves changing colors, but I love it for the fashion. During the hotter months I normally in jeans and t-shirt due ridiculous schedule as a Ph.D. student and the fact that I’m not allowed to wear anything cute inside the lab, because lets face it cute summer attire is hazardous when it comes to chemicals like Hydrochloric Acid and the like. So Fall is when I shine. I get to wear the cute booties, paired with my love for military style jackets, light sweaters, and scarves.
Since I’m still in graduate school and on a graduate student’s budget (sigh), I’ve learned that they key to keeping your fall wardrobe looking good year after year is all in how you take care of it. I used to think that all my “good” clothes had to be dry cleaned but quickly learned that wasn’t necessarily true when I found myself having trouble fitting that monthly dry cleaning bill into my budget.
This is why I have so much love to Tide Pod’s with Febreeze. Not only are they super convenient to use they’re a 4-n-1 powerhouse of detergent + stain remover + brightener and, of course, the fresh scent of Febreze. I love how these Pod’s help to get out odors that can be trapped in my clothes, especially my blazers that I find sometimes can hold on to smells.
Since we don’t dry clean are clothes that required to be dry cleaned much anymore we use the Tide Pods and are mindful about the settings we use on the washing machine. For, instance if you have a shirt that can be washed at home but has delicate stitching, has a lot of lace, or even intricate buttons you can use the delicate cycle instead of going for a full power wash. Some washing machines even have a hand wash cycle which shows your clothes even more care.
There are several fabrics that can be washed that you may not even know about. Take Silk, for instance, many of us would quickly throw a worn silk shirt into the dry cleaning pile, but it can definitely be washed on the delicate cycle.
Wool is another fabric that can be washed in the washing machine. Let me tell you I wore this wool jacket almost every day last winter and it looked it too. When I washed it I made sure to put it on the handwash cycle and also used cold water to keep it from shrinking.
So tell me how do you save on your dry cleaning bill? Do you #Tidethat with Tide Pods with Febreeze? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
