Last year when the new Apple updated to a new iOs, I noticed something different about the organization of my photos. Usually, they’re organized by where they’re stored or either on your photo stream on your camera roll. They can also be categorized by which app you used to create the picture. Upon opening my photo app after this latest update, I noticed a new category called “Selfies.” At first, I found it strange that I would have a “selfies” folder within my photos, I mean yes I do take a lot of selfies, 694 according to the number on the screen, but did I need a folder dedicated to them? It made me seem so superficial and dare I say it, vain even. It was almost as if my iPhone was throwing shade.
Most of the selfies in my “Selfie” folder are pictures from one session where I’ve done multiple attempts to try and take the perfect picture. It’s as if each selfie is auditioning for America’s Next Top Model and it’s waiting for Tyra to say their name so they can make it through the next round. So to cut back on the ridiculous number of Selfies I’ve been taking as well as to try and avoid the weird stares from my neighbors as I pose in front of our perfect brick wall I’ve put together some tips to help you take the perfect selfie.
Look Before You Snap.
Okay so you’ve done your hair and makeup, and you think you look super cute. Well, that may be except for the fact that your lipstick has decided it would rather be on your teeth than on your lips and your bra strap is all “Hey girl Hey!” Always take a quick second to give yourself a once over before snapping the picture, especially if you’re not using the front facing camera.
Light Is Your Friend.
You ever wonder why those Instagram obsessed people go crazy over great lighting? It’s because the great lighting is what bomb selfies are made of! Look for areas that give off great natural or natural looking light.
Find Your Best Angle.
The reason I take so many selfies at one time is because I’m always playing with angles and trying to figure out which picture shows off my makeup, but also hides my double chin which I’m seriously hoping to be rid of by June. My best angle for a selfie is shot from above with my head slightly tilted up but tilted to the right slightly. If I take the photo head on or shot from below it gets kind of scary.
One of the main things I’m concerned about in my selfies is how my skin looks. I loathe that whole “smoothing filter” practice that so many people are doing. I want to give great, radiant, smooth skin each and every time without the help of an app. This is one of the reasons why I’m loving using the ROC line of skin care products.
Lately, I’ve added the RoC® MULTI CORREXION® 5 in 1 Chest, Neck and Face Cream to my skin care regimen. I love that it focuses on the other important areas besides my face. The older I get, the more I need to start paying attention to other essential areas, especially making sure to use products that address fine lines, elasticity, and firmness, as well as dry skin. The RoC® MULTI CORREXION® 5 in 1 Chest, Neck, and Face Cream is great as because it’s specifically formulated with Hexinol which targets the skin concerns that I’ve listed above differently from other anti-aging products as well as SPF 30.
So now that I’ve given tips on how to create the perfect selfie go out and snap to your heart’s desire. Be sure to tag me on Instagram in the ones that you feel are your absolute best. My username is @Being_Melody or you can just follow me and see all my wonderful selfies by clicking here.
