My hair has undergone lots of changes. It’s been purple and blonde, styled in a tapered fashion, and even completely shaved off in an undercut style. It’s safe to say my hairstyles have run the gamut, and while this year I vowed to keep my styles a bit more toned down, I still haven’t been able to avoid dryness. A while back, I shared with you all how I identified where my dryness was coming from, but I’m still working to treat this problem. I’m a product junkie, but my supplies are limited so I headed over to Sally Beauty which is like a mecca for affordable hair goodies and grabbed some items to treat my hair to an intense moisturizing treatment.
Since my hair is in need of lots of moisture, I was sure to pick up items that were geared towards moisture replenishment and repair. The great thing about Sally Beauty is that all of the items are affordable. Several of the items pictured above are under $10, and if you don’t love it, you can always return it. So, you don’t have to worry about breaking your budget to get high-quality salon-inspired products.
To get started with my ultra-intensive-moisturizing treatment I decided it was time for a cut and shape. I figured it would be best to do it before I started my moisturizing treatment, as I would be cutting off any dead or damaged ends that had been impacted by the dryness. I was also in desperate need of a style. After picking out my hair, I used my Conair Clippers that I’d picked up on a previous visit to Sally Beauty. While I was cutting, I used the Super Solano Red and Black Professional Hair Dryer to help me stretch my hair, as well as to get rid of the lose hair that was being cut off. I like this blow dryer, because it has a lot of power and is perfect for straightening my coils without heat damage.
The next step was to do an overnight Oil Pre Poo. Pre Poo’s are great for stopping frizziness as well as making the hair softer and more manageable. Since I’ve been dealing with dryness, my hair has not been soft, but more so scratchy. I missed my soft pillow curls, so instead of doing a Pre Poo for only a couple of hours, I decided to go overnight. I applied the One ‘N Only Argan Oil Treatment generously to my hair and put on a plastic cap. I allowed the treatment to work through my hair overnight. The following morning, I shampooed my hair with the Argan Oil Moist and Repair Shampoo, and then applied the Proclaim Argan Oil Hydrating Masque. One thing I noticed immediately after the shampoo was how curly my hair was. This was big for me, since with the dryness my hair tended to want to stay straight or barely curl.
I rinsed the Hydrating Masque out with cool water to help seal in the moisture and proceeded to the styling process. Since my hair is shorter, I love to wear finger coils. Finger coils require a good bit of gel so I picked up the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioner. I like this conditioner, because instead of it being a cream, it’s a liquid leave in so I don’t have to worry about products not getting along and leaving behind build up.
To create the fullness with my finger coils, I applied Proclaim Glossing Polish to give my hair a bit more shine. Though, with all of the moisture I’d already added, my hair was already looking absolutely amazing. After my intensive moisturizing treatment, my hair looked and felt so healthy. I didn’t have any random hairs sticking out of place and each curl formed beautifully while I was finger coiling. The end result was nothing short of amazing. My husband even commented on how good my hair looked, though I think he was more impressed that I was able to actually cut my hair on my own. My curls were moisturized and didn’t feel dry or look dull! Talk about a transformation!
So, now that you’ve seen what the amazing affordable products from Sally Beauty did for me and my dry dull hair, it’s your turn to take the Sally (Hair) Dare! I’m challenging you to head over to Sally Beauty and purchase products to help you treat your hair problem. Is it dryness like me or are you dealing with too much moisture?
