This month I had the opportunity to attend my first VIB Rouge exclusive event. I’d never gone before because well #broke and I usually had to work. This time, though, I was armed with gift cards and so ready to play in makeup. The invite that was sent out showed some exclusive new items that I already had on my wishlist thanks to SnapChat and Instagram.
At this particular VIB Rouge event, we were getting first dibs on several of the new launches. One highly anticipated item, in particular, was the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks which had already been making a buzz around Social Media. There are 100 Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks in all with Sephora getting 20 of its own exclusive Vice Lipsticks. These twenty were the ones available to us and I picked up five that caught my eye. *I will note that when shopping online several of the shades are lighter than what they are pictured . Oblivion for instanc,e appears more brown online but is definitely more gray in person.

From Left to Right: Oblivion, Sabotage, Tampered, Speedball, and Carnal
OBLIVION: Oblivion is a mega matte formula in a Grey Taupe. I think this color would have looked better as a cream or maybe in a comfort matte as opposed to a mega matte. The color does a slight pink undertone but that doesn’t translate well on my already pink lips.
CARNAL: I wasn’t sure I was going to love Carnal until I actually applied it to my lip. I like that it’s a neutral shade but still adds a bit of color. Carnal is a comfort matte and described as a warm medium nude. To me, it comes off as an almost a muted coral/peach.
TAMPERED: Tampered is a comfort matte finish and described as a Deep Mauve. I’m on the fence when it comes to this lipstick because I’m not a huge fan or “rose” toned lipsticks and mauves always remind me of rose.
SABOTAGE: Sabotage is a cream finish and the color is described as a rose-plum with a blue shift. I really like this color and I loved the blue shift which shows up as blue iridescent specs within the lipstick.
SPEEDBALL: Speedball is a Cream and is described as a deep vibrant purple. I almost missed out on this gorgeous color until I was checking out and the associate at Sephora told me that It was a must have. She’s right. It’s gorgeous. I actually had it on in this last post where you can really see it in action.
After the VIB Rouge event, I ordered a few more colors when the collection officially launched from the list I created watching the SondaDeluxe Youtube video where she swatched all 100 shades. I realize now that I seemed to lean more towards the neutral toned shades and browns over all the others. I stayed away from the sheer colors as I figured if I’m paying $17 a pop for a lipstick I want it to show up on my lips ya feel me?
From Left to Right: 1993, Conspiracy*, Pyscho, Disturbed, Hex, Pandemonium, and Blackmail
1993: I heard 1993 was a cult favorite so I decided to grab it and give it a try. I’ll admit I do like the way it looks on my lips. 1993 is a comfort matte and described as medium brown. I’m thinking it will look great lined with a reddish brown lip liner.
PYSCHO: I absolutely love Pyscho and I hate that you can’t see the gorgeous blue shift that it gives off. Pyscho is a comfort matte and is described as a bright rose with an iridescent blue micro sparkle. Before I mentioned I didn’t like rose but now I’m seeing a that I enjoy played up rose colors. If you haven’t added Pyscho do you list definitely do.
PANDEMONIUM: Pandemonium was causing its own pandemonium with how gorgeous it looked in the tube. I just knew I had to grab it for myself. Pandemonium is a mega matte bright purple. What I like about it is that while it’s a matte, the color isn’t splotchy giving you full-on in your face color. I think this lipstick would look gorgeous topped with Make Up For Ever’s Artist Plexigloss #501 and lined with a slighter darker lip pencil like Night Moth possibly.
HEX: Hex is a deep red wine mega matte. I like to think of it as a more mature color of the red family. I love wearing red lipstick and would more than likely choose this one to wear in professional settings.
CONSPIRACY: Conspiracy is one of the Sephora exclusive colors. This one was not available at the VIB Rouge event for me to try. It’s a metallized finish and describe as having a plum brown shimmer. I can tell there is a plum undertone when swatched on my arm, but not so much when worn my lips.
DISTURBED: described as a deep red wine with a comfort matte finish this lipstick really reminds me of an oldie but goodie from the MAC Cosmetics line called Media.
BLACKMAIL: I was on the fence about blackmail because well, it was just so dark. Blackmail is a comfort matte in a deep berry wine. The color surprisingly looks great on as more of the wine seems to come forth when applied to the lips.
From Left to Right: Oblivion, Carnal, 1993, Pyscho, Pandemonium, Speedball, Sabotage, Hex Disturbed, Conspiracy, Tampered, and Blackmail
Out of the 14 Urban Decay Vice Lipstick shades swatched above the only ones I’m not a huge fan of are Oblivion and Tampered. When it comes down the finishes you’re really gonna have to play with them to see which ones you like best. I love a good matte but I’m more of a fan of the comfort mattes which have a little more moisture to them. The entire collection is available online and in stores. If you’re planning on really purchasing a good bit of these be sure to shop using Ebates to get 8% cash back! Ebates and get 8% cash back!
Very nice swatches and you look beautiful in all of them. I got Disturbed. Can’t wait for it to arrive. Hopefully it suits Indian skin tone
gorgeous!
