Healthy hair was one my goals this year so I’ve been making sure to take extra care to deep condition, moisturize, and to use Jamaican Black Castor Oil on my edges. Since my big chop in January, I’m already starting to see major growth even with keep my sides and neck tapered. I’ve found that the key to keeping my hair happy is to use quality products with quality ingredients that my hair really loves.
[ad name=”In Content Responsive Ad”]Recently I had the chance to try out the Design Essentials Coconut Monoi Deep Moisture Collection which contains masque, balms, curl refreshers, and hot oil treatments. I’ve tried the Design Essentials Coconut Monoi styling products which I really liked so I knew that I was in for a treat.
Two of the newer products to this line are the Moisture Balm and the Deep Moisture Masque which I’m going to talk more about in this review. They are both paraben, paraffin, and petroleum free and available exclusively at Sally Beauty.
The Deep Moisture Masque ($14.99) wasn’t as thick as masque that I’ve used in the past, but I did like the ease which I was able to apply it to my hair. I used this product both with direct heat as well as letting it sit with just a plastic cap on my head. Both times my hair felt soft and shiny after rinsing.
The Deep Moisture Balm ($12.99) was my favorite of the two as it can be used both in your hair and on your skin! I’ve been dealing with some dry patches on my elbows and stomach and when I remember I’ve been using this at night to help soothe my skin. The Moisture Balm is a 10-in-1 all natural blend featuring Shea Butter and ten of the most exotic and efficacious oils for repair, strength, and shine. It’s infused with Marula Oil and Moringa oil, both of which are light weight. This balm can be used as a hair and scalp moisturizer, defrizzer, heat protectant, and shine treatment. I used this product in place of my usual oil and sealant as it already contains these ingredients.
To use the moisture balm in both my hair and on my skin I took a small amount into my hands and rubbed it between my palms allowing my body temperature to melt it. My hair absorbed it well and I found that it mixed well with my styling products.
Overall I really liked both the Moisture Masque and Moisture Balm. I can definitely see myself using the Moisture Balm weekly and the Moisture Masque every other week as part of my deep conditioning regimen. Both of these products are for dry, dull, thirsty hair and while my hair isn’t lacking for moisture I still liked the results after use.
