I straightened my hair!!! Okay well, I didn’t do it I had it straightened by my new favorite stylist, and I absolutely loved it. That is until I realized how limited my life was. When you’re natural, and you get a silk press (basically a really good flat iron) you have to take care not to do certain activities that will cause your hair to revert to its curly state. For me, that meant I just had to sit and be cute. You see taking care of straightened natural hair also takes a bit more work than just wearing it natural. I had to wrap it every night and then in the morning use a wax that helped to lay down my shorter sides and nape and then when I curled my hair I had to spray heat protectant. By the end of the week after all the product paired with the dreadful weather my hair was no longer bouncy and lightweight it was just there.
To get rid of all the buildup from using so many products I tried out the Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo to detox my hair from the product buildup. This shampoo is different from other shampoos in that it’s a product you can use once a week to make your favorite shampoo work better. Washing your hair with this clarifying shampoo instantly removes 90% of dulling residue caused by shampoo, conditioner and styling products. It’s basically like a pre-game for your next shampoo.
I had to use the shampoo twice before it really got my hair clean (I had some serious buildup), but I could immediately tell the difference in the second application. The shampoo washed out easily and didn’t leave behind any build up on my scalp which is a huge plus in my book. After washing my hair, I immediately noticed a difference in the way my curls felt once they bounced back. They were softer and seemed fluffier! While this shampoo is safe for all hair types and even color treated hair, due to my hair texture I don’t wash my hair more than once a week as my curls need to have at least some oils. I will, however, keep this product in my stash for those times when my hair as an enormous amount of buildup and needs a good cleanse. This shampoo is also pretty budget friendly as it only retails for $6.49. Be sure to check out more from Neutrogena by visiting their social channels below:
