Back in 2013 MAC released their In Extra Dimension Skinfinishes and everyone went crazy over them. I mean who wouldn’t they were absolutely gorgeous, you can check out my write up on them here for confirmation on their gorgeous status. As the trend of strobing is dying down we’re starting to see companies lean towards products that give us a more natural highlight. MAC’s In the Spotlight Collection goes one step further by not only giving us four new shades of In Extra Dimension Skinfinishes, also releasing four new shades of their ever popular Strobe Cream.
[ad name=”In Content Responsive Ad”]I knew the MAC Strobe Cream, $33, was popular but because there was only the one shade now renamed Pinklite, I never really got into it, but I shant miss out now. Strobe Cream is basically a moisturizer on steroids. It’s like a pick me up in a bottle that’s powered with potent botanicals, antioxidants, and iridescent pearl particles. It de-stresses, de-snoozes, hydrates, freshens and boosts the look of dull, tired-looking skin instantly. See what I mean about it being a moisturizer on steroids?
I love the fact that it does all these things while still giving your skin a nice luminescent glow that isn’t over the top. There are four new shades added to the Strobe Cream collection Peachlite, Redlite, Goldlite, and Silverlite. I tried to swatch all of these but I just could not for the life of me get it to show up on camera to where you could really get an idea of the pigments. It is sheer but dries down to a gorgeous finish taking on the glow of pigments on the skin to give off a natural glow. The Peachlite is practically orgasmic on my skin and I can’t wait to incorporate it into my makeup routine. The Goldlite and Redlite would look amazing on Women of Color also. The Silverlite is the only one I wouldn’t recommend picking up as it does dry down, well silver and in some ways can maybe make the skin look a bit dull.
There are four new shades of the In Extra Dimension Skinfinishes $33.
Show Gold peach that breaks pink
Double-Gleam beige that breaks silver
Beaming Blush pink that breaks gold
Soft Frost white that breaks violet
I received two for review, Show Gold, and Double-Gleam. I shared swatches of these two on Snapchat (@Being_Melody), and Double-Gleam definitely pulls more silver once it’s on and as a caution, you don’t want to use a lot of it or it will begin to look ashy on your skin. With a light hand, they’re pretty pigmented so unless you’re going for a Tin Man look you won’t need a lot. Show Gold finishes as a peachy pink, but when piled on can begin to look a bit more magenta so again a use a light hand when applying this one.
Both are absolutely gorgeous on the skin though if I had to choose I would take Show Gold over Double-Gleam because I know I’d get more wear out of it. I’ve included swatches for you below so you can see how they actually look on medium brown skin.
The MAC In the Spotlight Collection is available now at MACCosmetics.com as well as Nordstroms for your shopping pleasure. I’m pretty sure the In Extra Dimension Skinfinishes are going to sell out just as quickly as they did when they launched the first time so don’t delay if you’re interested in added these to your collections!
