This past year I’ve spent a lot of time and money on skincare. I went into 2016 with the goal of improving my skin and now I can actually look in the mirror and in my best snow white evil step mom voice ask it “How am I doing?”.
[ad name=”In Content Responsive Ad”]The HiMirror is a two-in-one mirror and beauty consultant. It’s also the world’s first smart mirror that tracks your skin’s condition over time. It even goes as far as to track areas of concern like fine lines, dark spots, redness, pore size and even complexion. Now you can finally find out if that $90 serum you picked up at Sephora that promised you the skincare world is really worth it!
Set up is easy and the great thing about the mirror is that you can mount it on the wall, a larger mirror, or use a picture (or fancy plate) holder like I’ve done to have it set up on a vanity. Since this is an electronic mirror you will need to be able to position it in an area that will allow for it to plug into an outlet.
The mirror runs through wifi which you can easily set up via the HiMirror app on your iPhone or Android device. Multiple people can use this mirror and it recognizes your different accounts via face recognition. For privacy/security, you can opt to close the lens on the camera. Since I’m a bit iffy I also close my lens after I take my skincare picture for the day.
The HiMirror comes with different pages for you to access via the home screen. Since this is a mirror and you really don’t want it to be full of fingerprints you navigate to different pages using “hand gestures”. This does take some getting used to a first, but once I realized it was soft of like a Wii sensor I quickly got the hang of it. You can choose to play music, add products to your skincare box via the bar code scanner, get your weight via the smart scale add-on, and most importantly analyze your skin. When not in use the home screen scrolls through news headlines as well as shows the time, temperature, weather, along with other important information to prepare you for the day. You can even upload pictures via the app to show up as screen savers.
To analyze your skin you place your face inside the outlined area and the mirror takes a picture. It then compares that picture to a previous picture to measure the differences in your skin. I’ve recently done a series a chemical peels so it’s been neat to see how my skin has been changing day to day following my last peel. The skin analysis rates your skin on a scale of 0-100 with 100 being the best. As mentioned above it analyzes several areas of concern and tells you if you’re improving or declining in that area as well as pinpointing the problem areas on your face.
Besides the skin analyzer my favorite features of the mirror have to be the beauty box where I can add in my favorite beauty products and create a regimen along with the media player which allows you to play music from your favorite internet radio stations. If you insert an SD card you can use the HiMirror to record your own videos using the built-in camera!
You can learn more about the Hi-Mirror by visiting their website. My skincare purchases were the only reason I went rouge at Sephora this year so I’m hopeful that this mirror will help me keep some money in my pocket by showing me what my skincare concerns really are so that I can only focus on products targeted to meet my needs.
