Quick Tips for First Time Visitors to The Makeup Show NYC

Three Tips for First Time Visitors to The MakeUp Show.
[ad name=”In Content Responsive Ad”]
I am super excited for The Makeup Show NYC this year because this is the first year in a while that I finally get to attend both days. If you don’t know, The Makeup Show is a PRO only focused beauty event for those in Fashion and Makeup Artistry, but if you stumbled upon this post you probably are aware of this and are super excited. You’ll find cosmetologist, models, makeup artist, stylist, beauty influencers, and even agents there. The first time I attended the Make Up Show as a budding MUA I was so overwhelmed by all its glory that I really didn’t know where to start. I wanted to shop, sit in seminars, take classes, and just soak up everything around me. Now that I’m going as a beauty influencer I’ve got a more strategic plan for how I plan to make the most of the best two days in beauty and I felt like it would be a great idea to give some quick tips on how to handle your first visit to The Makeup Show NYC.

Plan your Spending.

If you’re a new makeup artist, you’re probably headed to the show to build your kit. This in itself can be overwhelming so the one thing you’re going to want to do is first is make a budget. This is crucial to staying on track while shopping because you can easily purchase more than what you really need and end up with buyers remorse days later and no way to return it. Make a list of all the exhibtors you want to stop and see along with perspective products to buy. Once you’ve hit everything on your list, you browse around for special items for yourself.

Take Advantage of the Free Education.

You can learn so much by sitting in on the open seminars. I sat in on a talk by Eve Pearl one year and heard one of the best pieces advice that has propelled my brand forward. Seminars usually are about 45 minutes, and there can be two going on simultaneously on separate floors so pick the one that best fits your needs. You’ll most definitely catch me at “Get the Look Fall 2017” at 1:15 pm and Flawless Sculpted at 5:00 pm on Sunday. Monday I’ll be sitting in on The Perfect Complexion for Dark Skin Tones at 11:15 am. Don’t forget the Keynote Talks given by some of the biggest names in the industry. I seriously wish they offered a video you could purchase after the event of all the talks.

Network Network Network

As I’ve mentioned, you’re going to be around some of the top names in the business along with hundreds of other talented individuals. I’ve made long lasting friendships just by chatting with others in lines. If this is your first time and you’re going alone don’t be afraid to strike up conversations. This is an event of like minded PRO individuals who want to learn and share what they’ve learned. Bring loads of business cards to exchange

We can count on certain brands to exhibit at The Makeup Show each year, but another exciting thing about the show is getting to check out new exhibitors. This year there will be eight new brands listed below found at The Make Up Show exhibiting floor. I’m excited to check out Juvia’s Place, The Brush Guard, and  Charlotte Tilbury. To get a sense of where things are check out the exhibitor’s floor plan which also highlights the seminar areas.

Charlotte Tilbury
Dr. Brandt
Giella Cosmetics
Henry Charles
Juvia’s Place
MENAJI
Oxygenetix Institute Inc.
