My hair is constantly changing. I can never commit to just one hairstyle which is why I gave up a tapered look and allowed my hair to grow out so I’d have more versatility. For me, hair is an accessory, and I want a style that is going to fit my mood or event. As I grew out my hair, I turned to wearing head wraps and wigs which worked out perfectly. On days I wanted to be relaxed and chill I’d throw on a headwrap and on days I wanted to big and bold I’d pull out my big blonde curly wig.
My sleeker look, which I’ve dubbed “Sasha” comes out on days when I feel the looks warrants longer locks. Sasha was my first experience with a custom lace front wigs. I tried a sew in with a lace front before, and I couldn’t handle it. Being that I can take Sasha off when I arrive home after a hard day out and about makes her perfect for me.
When it comes to styling my natural hair and Sasha I’ve found that less is more. I want to use workhorse products that will help me create and maintain my styles. Now that my hair has grown out significantly I’m starting to wear it more in its natural state, meaning you’re getting all of these big bold curls. After my wash n go is about 75% dry I fluff it and spray it with hairspray that is going to reduce frizz and stand up to humidity.
When it comes to Sasha, I don’t like using heat to curl the hair. Instead of using a curling iron I use these fantastic cloth rollers that I picked up at Sally Beauty Supply. All I have to do is wrap the hair around the rollers at night and then take them out in the morning. They’re seriously a time saver, and the curls last a few days when I spray them with a holding hairspray.
