I love looking through magazines to see what all the new styles and trends for the upcoming seasons are going to be. I live vicariously through the models and stylist because let’s face it, there is really nothing that grande going on my life that would warrant me leaving my house in half the things that I pin to my secret Pinterest board. I also worked in a lab where the rules were closed toed shoes and pants. My wardrobe although comfortable and cute basically screamed boring.
After leaving the lab I decided I would be a little bit bolder in my wardrobe choices. Of course, I’m still choosing things that fit well within my curated capsule, but I wanted to breathe some life into my typical cardigans and denim.
I finally pulled the trigger and scooped up this gorgeous high waisted long tulle skirt from ASOS during their end of the year sale. Even after adding it to my cart and hitting purchase I was super nervous. What was I going to do with a tulle skirt? Where was I going to wear it? Is it even practical?
You see I was already committing self-sabotage. I was trying to come up with reasons why the skirt wouldn’t work so that I could race back to the comfort of my sweaters and soft tees. When the skirt finally arrived I immediately tried it on and fell head over heels in love. Is it cliche if I say I felt like a princess because I did! As I didn’t want the look to be dressy I figured the best way to tone the tulle skirt down would be to pair it with a denim shirt and my camouflage heels from Valentino. Since I’m someone who doesn’t feel comfortable without a belt I threw a camouflage belt around my waist and declared the outfit perfection.
I’ll take this as a win towards my goal of living fearlessly in 2018. I can’t wait to show you the other ways I plan on styling my new tulle skirt.
