Entrepreneurs and young professionals flocked to Greenville, South Carolina to attend the inaugural Identity. Passion. Purpose Conference (IPP Greenville) created by Erica Johnson, C.E.O. of Leap Branding & P.R., L.L.C. The two-day conference is designed to assist attendees with the development of their professional identities and help them get unstuck in business. As an entrepreneur, I can definitely relate to being stuck and not knowing where to turn. Greenville is the fourth fastest-growing city in the United States, making it a desirable hub for various job markets. Young professionals must understand what makes them unique in their own right and sets them apart from the competition in the business world. They should also be aware of how they can leverage their skills to maximize growth potential, whether in the job market or within their businesses.
The two-day host a career and networking expo along with panel discussions focused on the following topics.
- getting unstuck in upward business mobility into C-Suite positions
- finding new personal growth opportunities
- tapping into niche markets in each industry
The first day of the conference kicked off with tons of excitement from participants and vendors taking the time to connect and network. Keynote speaker Cederic Ritter of Ritter International Signature Real Estate in Greenville, South Carolina spoke to the audience about guaranteeing success to get to your next step through proper relationships and mentorship.
Key Take-Aways
1. Find the right people to align yourself with by determining if that person is doing something that you want to do.
2. Your alignment can affect your attitude. If you are not willing to do what someone else is doing, you’re not entitled to benefit from what they’re doing.
3. In the business world, the people you spend the most time with dictate how far you rise and how far you’ll go. When looking for a mentor or counselor, consider these things:-Is this person truthful, and will they always tell me the truth regardless of the circumstances?
-Is this person doing something that aligns with my most significant and wildest dreams?
-Will this person help me stay joyful while going through the process?
-Is this someone others look up to and seek advice?
Take-Home Concept
With the right relationships in place, how can you use these to help you focus on the thing you’re working to achieve? When opportunities arise, ask your self the following:
1. How does the above apply to my life
2. How can I use it to improve my situation?
3. How can I use this to serve others?
Use the acronym F.O.C.U.S to help guide you in your decision making.
F= Family/Fun: Does this align with my family? Am I doing it for other people, or do I genuinely enjoy it?
O= One Course: Will the job opportunity give me my objective? Does this give me the chance to overcome an obstacle? How can I overcome it with my current skills? Can I be mentored?
C= Course: Staying the course will bring about clarity. It will also bring about consistency.
U=Until: Do the hard work, hit your objectives, and keeping the same discipline to make it. How does your uniqueness set you apart and push the organization forward?
S= Successful Ask yourself what you can do to make sure you’re successful?
